Phone thief who targeted a content creator at Photobox Green Pramuka arrested; one suspect remains at large
JAKARTA — One of the mobile phone thieves at the photobox in Green Pramuka Square Mall, Central Jakarta, with the initials YNT, has been arrested by police.
“One person named YNT has been secured by the Resmob Polda, and is being questioned,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Police AKBP Roby Heri Saputra when contacted by Kompas.com via WhatsApp on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
The police are also awaiting goodwill from NV to return the victim’s phone to the nearest police station.
“If indeed not to the Cempaka Putih Police Station perhaps they live elsewhere; please return the item found,” Roby said.
Separately, the Public Relations Head of Metro Jaya Police Kombes Budi Hermanto confirmed the arrest.
According to Budi, YNT was arrested on Monday (19 May 2026) in Leuwiliang, Bogor Regency, West Java.
“Yes, regarding the phone theft at the Photobox Selfie Time Apartments Green Pramuka Square, the Subdit Resmob Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya has arrested 1 suspect in Leuwiliang, Bogor Regency, West Java,” Budi said via WhatsApp.
Earlier, CCTV captured the faces of two female suspects in the photobox booth in the mall.
On the night of the incident, the victim immediately reported to Cempaka Putih Police Station. Police then conducted on-site crime scene investigations at Green Pramuka Square and secured CCTV recordings.
“From the CCTV in the photobox room, two female suspects were clearly visible,” Berlin told Kompas.com via text on Friday.
In addition, Berlin said he had received information from police and netizens about the identities of the two women.
According to information received, one of the suspects is said to have previously been involved in a similar case.
“The one (YH) was arrested by police for stealing at a concert in 2022, but was released after a settlement,” Berlin said.
Berlin said the stolen phone was a Samsung Z Flip 7 valued at around Rp 17.5 million.
“Total losses are around Rp 25 million,” Berlin added.
