JAKARTA (JP): State telecommunications company PT Telkom has
discounted new telephone installation in the Greater Jakarta
area, Purwakarta and Serang by 53 percent, one of the firm's
officials said.

Guntur Siregar, the head of the firm's Jakarta division, said
on Sunday that in addition to the discounted installation, the
company was also giving new customers 530 free pulses for long-
distance direct dialing.

"Both the discount and the free pulses, which will be given to
new customers who sign contracts and pay in cash between Sept. 1
and Sept. 30, are intended to commemorate the country's 53rd post
and telecommunications day," Guntur was quoted by Antara as
saying.

The two services are being offered to businesses, households
and social services, he said. (hhr)
