Phone application deadline extended

The Jakarta Office of the State-owned Telecommunications
Company (PT Telkom Witel IV) has extended the deadline for
registering new telephone applicants to June 15.

According to office manager Djaman Sinaga, the extension is to
accommodate the favorable public response to the Telkom plan to
install new telephone lines in the Witel IV region which includes
Jakarta, Tangerang, Bekasi and Cibinong area.

"Given the sufficient time left, we can collect accurate data
and encompass a larger area," he said.

Djaman called on those who are in need of telephone lines but
have not registered to do so immediately.

He pointed out though, that registration is just help the
company make its plans on future telephone installation and asked
the applicants to be patient since the realization of the project
will depend on the funds available. (mds)
