Philips launches new range of phones

JAKARTA: The launch of Philips' Digital Enhanced Cordless
Telecommunication (DECT) range here on Thursday marked the latest
entry into Indonesia's telecommunications industry.

Philips Southeast Asian manager Bob Pillay said three
varieties of DECT telephones, the Kala, Onis 200 and Zenia Voice,
were now available in Indonesia, following their successful
introduction in Singapore last year.

Pillay said the product range had achieved wide penetration in
Europe and he was confident Philips' cordless digital technology
would also be well-received in Asia.

He said DECT telephones are equipped with features found in
GSM mobile phones, such as vibrating call, voice dial and hands-
free option, and offer advanced sound quality, which is free from
