Philippines wins Bowling C'ship

Liza Del Rosario of the Philippines won the prestigious Women's Open Masters final on Friday at the Second Indonesia Open Tenpin Bowling Championship at the Jaya Ancol Bowling Center, Jakarta.

She defeated Vanessa Fung of Hongkong in the final match 212- 201 and 236-234.

With her victory, Rosario pocketed Rp 25 million (US$2,700).

"When I started playing at this venue, I could not adapt easily to the lanes, but in the finals I was able to deal with the problem and was able relax," she said.

The local hope, Novie Phang, came sixth.

In the Men's Open Masters final, Ahmeed Shaheen of Qatar came first beating Remy Ong of Singapore 244-234 in the final match.

He brought home the first prize of Rp 50 million.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Asian Bowling Federation tour finals will be held at the same venue, featuring 16 of the best men and women bowlers from the Open Masters finals. -JP
