Philippine films screened
JAKARTA (JP): In celebration of the Philippines centennial, the Philippine Women's Association is organizing a film festival in cooperation with the Philippines Embassy.
The three-day festival, which starts on Tuesday, is taking place at the ASEAN Secretariat's main conference hall, Jl. Sisingamangaraja 70 A, South Jakarta.
It will feature three well-known Philippine movies: Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not), a film about an avowed disciple of Jose Rizal; Geron Busabos: Ang Batang Quiapo (The Quiapo Boy), a film about Geron Busabo who is an illiterate champion of the masses who fights for the dignity of his elders; and A portrait of the Artist as a Filipino, Don Lorenzo's brilliant self-portrait, which is about an artist's anguish over his own commercialization, exacerbated by his two selfish daughters making it a contentious issue.
