Philippine exports up 2.7%
MANILA (AFP): Philippine exports rose 2.7 percent in April
from a year earlier to US$2.345 billion, the government's
statistics agency said Tuesday.
Export receipts from January to April grew 12.1 percent to
$10.198 billion from $9.101 billion in the same period last year,
the National Statistics Office said.
Electronics and components remained the country's leading
export earner, accounting for 56 percent of the total and
bringing in $1.314 million, up from $1.214 in 1998.
Other leading exports were input/output peripheral units and
clothing accessories and apparel, with combined sales reaching
$273.91 million, the agency said.
