Philippine aviation authority closes airport following massive earthquake

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced the temporary suspension of operations at General Santos International Airport following a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday (8/6). “An assessment of air navigation facilities, equipment, and operational capabilities is currently being conducted to ensure that the safety and integrity of airport operations are maintained,” CAAP stated in a public announcement.
