PHE Reports 475,000 bpd Oil Production as of April 2026

PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) has recorded total oil production of 475,000 barrels per day (bpd) as of April 2026, representing cumulative output from domestic and international oil and gas fields managed by the company.

CEO Awang Lazuardi detailed domestic and international production contributions and challenges amid global geopolitical tensions, noting a decrease compared to 2025’s 556,000 bpd.

“Domestic oil production stands at 367,000 bpd and international at 109,000 bpd, totaling 475,000 bpd,” he stated during a hearing with the House of Representatives’ Commission XII in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

Awang explained that early-year production was hampered by technical issues in supporting infrastructure, particularly in the Rokan block, where a gas transportation pipeline leak caused a temporary drop in daily output for several weeks.

“Early this year, the Rokan block faced gas supply issues due to integrity problems and leaks in the Gas Indonesia Transport Pipeline (TGI), which lasted over 20 days, significantly reducing average oil production there,” he said.

International operations also faced pressure from the US-Israel-Iran conflict, forcing Iraq to temporarily shut in the West Qurna field managed by PHE, resulting in a loss of approximately 100,000 bpd.

“We lost around 100,000 bpd. Production has been allowed to resume but is still not at full capacity—only under 10% to meet internal Iraqi needs, so it hasn’t returned to normal,” he added.

Despite these challenges, the company remains optimistic about meeting its annual target. It has launched a ‘filling the gap’ program to boost total oil and gas production to 1.03 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) by year-end.

“Currently, we are at 945,000 boepd, with a target of 1.03 million boepd through various activities under the filling the gap program,” Awang concluded.
