Pharmacy Retailers Show Resilience Amid Rupiah Weakness
Amid a sluggish pharmaceutical industry due to the weakening rupiah against the dollar and the global geopolitical situation, the domestic pharmacy retail industry continues to strive to survive. At the recent BeautyFest Asia 2026 event at Mall Kota Kasablanka, Jakarta, pharmacy retail chain VIVA Apotek featured nine principal brands offering various pharmaceutical products and promotions. VIVA Apotek President Director Haryanto Winata stated that the company achieved a 35% increase in sales compared to the previous year’s participation. He noted that this performance improvement serves as a strong indicator of high public enthusiasm for health and beauty products presented by the industry, while also strengthening the company’s position as a growing pharmacy retail destination in Indonesia. Over the three-day event, the VIVA Apotek booth featured various interactive programmes, including exclusive promotions, flash deals, prize games, social media activations, and an integrated omnichannel shopping experience both online and offline. “We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of visitors during BeautyFest Asia 2026. This 35% sales growth achievement motivates us to continue delivering health and beauty retail experiences that are more innovative, relevant, and close to consumer needs,” said Haryanto Winata, President Director of VIVA Apotek.
