Pharaoh's Throne Replica, Seized in Asabri Case, Auctioned at BPA Fair 2026
A replica of the Pharaoh’s throne, known as ‘King Tutankhamun’s Egyptian Throne Chair’, has emerged as one of the unique items being auctioned at the BPA Fair 2026, organised by the Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency (BPA). The gold-plated chair is an asset seized in the corruption and investment management case involving PT Asabri, which implicated Jimmy Sutopo, Director of PT Jakarta Emiten Investor Relation, as a suspect.
At the BPA Fair venue, information boards display the reserve prices and security deposit requirements for the throne replica. The auction period runs from 12 May 2026 to 21 May 2026, with the deadline for security deposit payments set for 18 May 2026.
The Head of the Attorney General’s Office BPA, Kuntadi, ensured that all items auctioned at the BPA Fair are state-seized assets that have achieved legal certainty. “We guarantee that the condition of these items is good. The public must understand that purchasing our goods does not mean buying problematic items, but rather items where all legal issues have been resolved,” Kuntadi stated during an interview at the BPA Office in Kebagusan, Jakarta, on Monday (18/5/2026).
He added that once a participant is declared the winner and completes the full payment, they will receive auction minutes (risalah lelang) to facilitate further administrative processes. Kuntadi explained that the BPA Fair was organised to increase the sale rate of state-seized assets, which has historically been considered low.
In addition to the Pharaoh’s throne replica, other items up for auction include luxury vehicles, electronics, and designer handbags. One of the most sought-after items is a Blue Shark Harley Davidson Road Glide motorcycle, seized in a money laundering case involving defendant Indra Kesuma. The motorcycle is being auctioned with a reserve price of IDR 87 million and a security deposit of IDR 10 million.
