Phapros Disperses Eco-Enzyme in Semarang Waterways
The utilisation of organic waste into value-added products is increasingly being adopted as part of environmental sustainability programmes. One such product now being used is eco-enzyme, a liquid derived from organic waste fermentation, which supports environmental management.
PT Phapros Tbk carried out an eco-enzyme dispersal in the Sam Poo Kong area of Semarang, Central Java. The activity was part of the company’s 72nd anniversary celebrations and its environmental programme.
PT Phapros Tbk President Commissioner Alfi N. Rustam stated that the use of eco-enzyme is a method to reduce organic waste whilst supporting environmental quality. “The dispersal of eco-enzyme symbolises our concern for the environment, as well as an effort to encourage the conversion of organic waste into something useful,” Alfi said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
According to Alfi, eco-enzyme can help reduce the amount of organic waste ending up in landfills and support the cleanliness of aquatic environments. The selection of the Sam Poo Kong area was also considered to hold symbolic value as one of Semarang’s historical landmarks. “The dispersal of eco-enzyme to aid waste decomposition is a manifestation of Phapros’s concern for environmental conservation, the city of Semarang, and the sustainability of its tourist sites,” he said.
In addition to the eco-enzyme dispersal, the company also conducted various social and environmental activities as part of its anniversary celebrations. PT Phapros Tbk President Director Intan Abdams Katoppo said the 72nd anniversary was a momentum to strengthen social and environmental contributions. According to Intan, the series of activities included the distribution of sacrificial meat, blood donation, mass circumcision, and environmental initiatives. “The peak of the Phapros Day celebration was enlivened with various activities, including a healthy walk, the dispersal of eco-enzyme into waterways, and tree planting within the Phapros area,” Intan said. She added that environmental management and organic waste utilisation are increasingly important aspects of the company’s sustainability agenda. The move aligns with the growing attention from the business world towards more environmentally friendly industrial practices.
