PGN targets 877 BBTUD natural gas distribution by 2026
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGAS), known as PGN and Pertamina’s gas subholding, has targeted natural gas distribution to various customer segments of approximately 877 BBTUD (billion British thermal units per day) by 2026, representing growth of 4 percent year on year.
This target is driven by optimism regarding demand growth from several industrial zones and new customers, particularly in East Java and Central Java.
“PGN’s focus in 2026 is strengthening operations as a long-term investment to ensure reliable service to customers. PGN also holds great expectations for extending natural gas access to society across various sectors and economic centres,” stated PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman in official remarks in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Fajriyah explained that the company’s strategic projects include accelerating several initiatives to strengthen transmission infrastructure, distribution networks, and regasification facilities.
She continued that the company is currently completing infrastructure projects such as the Cikampek-Plumpang Pipeline, plans for additional Sei Mangkei Distribution Pipeline routes, and development of LNG storage and regasification facilities.
In efforts to expand energy access to households, the company is accelerating household gas networks (jargas) in Sumatra and Java.
“This step is accompanied by midstream infrastructure innovation through beyond pipeline modes, namely CNG cylinders, LNG retail hubs, trucking and Vertical Gas Liquid (VGL) tanks,” said Fajriyah.
For its part, she ensured that the company will continue low emission initiatives, with the company committed to sustainability through developing renewable and natural gas products for green energy business, such as biomethane and gas derivatives.
“In implementing the development of strategic projects in 2026, PGN continues to work optimally whilst prioritising the principle of prudence and delivering direct benefits to both society and companies,” concluded Fajriyah.
