PT Perusahaan Gas Negara considers vehicles based on compressed natural gas (CNG) to be a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly alternative energy source, particularly amid the high mobility of the public during the Eid homecoming flow. PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman stated that this is reflected in the implementation of the CNG Mobile Workshop programme titled Bengkel Standby Idul Fitri 1447 H, held at the Cirebon Natural Gas Fuel Station (SPBG) in West Java.

“This programme demonstrates that CNG-based vehicles can serve as a cleaner and more efficient energy solution, especially when public mobility increases, such as during the homecoming period,” she said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In the programme, PGN deployed a standby team operating 24 hours a day. A total of 55 vehicles were serviced, comprising 40 bajaj units and 15 gas-fuelled vehicle (BBG) cars. This initiative forms part of efforts to strengthen the reliability of alternative energy infrastructure along the homecoming routes, while providing a sense of safety and comfort for BBG vehicle users.

According to Fajriyah, the utilisation of CNG on homecoming routes also aligns with the growing need for energy solutions that are more environmentally friendly and efficient.

“In the midst of global uncertainties, clean energy is no longer merely an option but a necessity,” she said.

Promoting National Energy Resilience

PGN views the optimisation of natural gas utilisation, including CNG, as a strategic step to strengthen national energy resilience while reducing energy costs for the public. With increasingly reliable infrastructure and services, the company hopes that the adoption of gas-fuelled vehicles will continue to rise, particularly during high-mobility moments like Eid.

The Bengkel Standby programme was carried out by PGN in collaboration with Gagas Energi Indonesia and the Komogas gas vehicle user community.

PGN Gagas President Director Santiaji Gunawan emphasised that the programme is a concrete step to ensure public travel safety.

“The standby workshop service at the SPBG enables users to perform quick and practical vehicle checks and maintenance,” he said.

Komogas General Chairman Andy Lala considers the presence of the standby workshop to be very helpful for BBG vehicle users, especially on long-distance journeys.

“The availability of this service provides peace of mind for users, while encouraging the public to switch to more efficient and environmentally friendly energy,” he said.

Through various initiatives like this, PGN is optimistic that CNG usage will continue to increase and become an important part of the transition to clean energy in Indonesia.
