PGN Presents Batik Stage for Children with Disabilities and SMEs
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk, or PGN, is promoting the empowerment of SMEs by providing creative spaces for children with disabilities to create batik works.
This commitment is realised through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme in collaboration with SMEs mentored by Zaliva at the Batik Bordir & Aksesoris Fair 2026, held in Surabaya from 6-10 May 2026.
In the event, PGN provides a creative space for children with disabilities to engage directly in batik-making activities while participating in the SME exhibition, allowing them to channel their creativity and boost their self-confidence.
PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman stated that the programme is part of the company’s efforts to build an inclusive and sustainable empowerment ecosystem.
Thus, it is not solely focused on economic growth but also on creating equal opportunities for all segments of society.
“PGN believes that every child has equal potential and opportunities to develop. Through this collaboration, we aim to provide an inclusive space so that children with disabilities can channel their creativity, build self-confidence, and have opportunities for greater independence through the works they produce,” said Fajriyah in her statement on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
This involvement is part of PGN’s efforts to give children with disabilities real experiences that their works have value and can be appreciated by the wider community.
“We want to provide broader experiences for children with disabilities to be bold in showcasing, displaying their works, and feeling that the creations they make have value and receive appreciation from the public,” she explained.
In addition to involving children with disabilities, PGN is featuring five outstanding mentored SMEs from Garut, Padang, Palembang, Tangerang, and Depok. The presence of these cross-regional SMEs is part of the company’s efforts to expand market access while enhancing the competitiveness of local businesses.
By 2026, PGN has recorded mentoring hundreds of SMEs in various regions as part of a strategy to strengthen an inclusive and sustainable economy-based approach, in line with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
“Children with disabilities have extraordinary creativity and learning spirit. With PGN’s support, they gain space to create while directly experiencing appreciation from the community,” said Zakiyah.
Currently, around 30 children with disabilities have participated in skills training with Zaliva, from batik-making to handicraft production. The programme is expected to open up future economic independence opportunities.
In the future, PGN and Zaliva are committed to continuing the training programme sustainably to strengthen the role of SMEs as drivers of inclusive economic growth in society.
