“The PROPER Gold and Green awards received this year are proof of PGN Group’s consistency not only in focusing on national energy resilience but also in dedicating itself to emission reductions, energy efficiency, environmental conservation, and community independence in the areas surrounding its operational regions. We believe that the sustainability of the natural gas business must align with the preservation of the surrounding ecosystem,” said PGN President Director Arief Kurnia Risdianto.

This achievement is also supported by various flagship innovations in helping communities become more empowered and economically independent by optimising local natural resources, skills training programmes for the community, and the development of creative economy initiatives based on clean energy.

One of the PROPER Gold awards was given to the Pagardewa Gas Compressor Station in South Sumatra for the innovative Pesona Tani Dewa (Sustainable, Optimal, and Adaptive Agriculture for Pagardewa Farmers) programme implemented in Pagardewa Village, Lubai Ulu, Muara Enim, South Sumatra. This programme serves as a solution to low rubber farmer incomes, declining plantation productivity, and land fire threats.

In addition, Pertagas OKA, one of Pertagas’s operational areas, has implemented various innovations in sustainable environmental management. The innovations include PERSOFEXT (Personal Fire Extinguisher), which reduces water usage by 4m³; the WTP Village Karya Jaya Distribution Pipe Innovation, which has reduced waste accumulation by 0.01038 tonnes; and Industrial Wipes as a replacement for cleaning cloths, which can reduce hazardous waste by 34.2 kg per year.

“PGN Group is committed to continuously improving environmental management standards and embracing communities as strategic partners in driving a more inclusive economy. This is also part of PGN’s active contribution to growing together with society alongside preserved environmental sustainability for future generations,” Arief concluded.
