PGN Deploys Emergency Response Team to Handle Incident in Medan

PT PGN (Persero) Tbk has deployed a technical and emergency response team to handle an incident involving a suspected explosion at a residential property on Jalan Grand Polonia, Medan, North Sumatra, on Monday (20/7/2026).

PGN Medan Area Head Agus Kurniawan expressed the company’s deep concern for the victims affected by the incident. He stated that PGN’s immediate priority is securing the location by dispatching technical and emergency response teams to shut off the gas supply and conduct a comprehensive inspection of the gas pipeline network to ensure the safety of the surrounding community.

“Based on gas detection results carried out by the PGN team and witnessed by authorised external parties at the scene that evening, including on both the first and second floors of the house, the reading showed 0 ppm, meaning no methane gas content was detected at the location,” he said.

Nevertheless, he added, the exact cause of the incident will await the official investigation results from the authorities. “We continue to coordinate intensively with local authorities and relevant parties to ensure proper handling on the ground, monitor the situation, and will provide further updates,” Agus stated.
