PGN: CNG-based vehicles as a solution for clean and efficient energy
With increasingly reliable infrastructure and services, we hope that CNG adoption will continue to rise, especially during high-mobility periods such as Eid al-Fitr. Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) states that compressed natural gas (CNG)-based vehicles can serve as a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly energy solution, particularly amid the high mobility of the population during the homecoming rush. This is according to PGN Corporate Secretary Fajriyah Usman, as seen from the results of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mobile Workshop programme titled Bengkel Standby Idul Fitri 1447 H, held at the Cirebon Gas Fuel Filling Station (SPBG) in West Java during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period. “This programme shows that CNG-based vehicles can become a cleaner, more efficient, and environmentally friendly energy solution, especially amid the high mobility of the population during the homecoming rush,” she said in her statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. She explained that the programme featured an on-call team operating 24 hours a day. Overall, 55 vehicles were serviced, consisting of 40 bajaj units and 15 gas-fuelled car (BBG) units. Strengthening the use of CNG on homecoming routes, according to her, aligns with the growing energy needs directed towards cleaner and more efficient solutions. “In the current global situation full of uncertainties, clean energy is no longer just an option, but a necessity,” she said. Therefore, Fajriyah added, optimising natural gas, including CNG, is a strategic step to strengthen national energy resilience while reducing costs for the public. The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Mobile Workshop programme titled Bengkel Standby Idul Fitri 1447 H was held by PT PGN as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, together with PT Gagas Energi Indonesia (PGN Gagas) and the Gas Car Community (Komogas). Meanwhile, PGN Gagas President Director Santiaji Gunawan emphasised that this programme is a concrete step to ensure the safety and comfort of the public during the homecoming rush. He explained that the activity focused on enhancing the reliability of BBG vehicles through direct technical services at the SPBG, allowing users to perform checks or maintenance quickly and easily. Komogas General Chairman Andy Lala assessed the standby workshop service as real support whose benefits are directly felt by BBG vehicle users, especially during the homecoming momentum. “The presence of this standby workshop is very helpful, especially for users undertaking long-distance journeys, providing peace of mind due to the certainty of services if needed, while encouraging more people to switch to more efficient and environmentally friendly energy,” he said.
