PGN Batam records 3,757 customers connected to natural gas by end of March 2026
PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Area Batam in the Riau Islands (Kepri) has recorded that 3,757 household gas network (jargas) customers are now able to utilise the gas flow or have been ‘gas-in’ as of the end of March 2026. Area Head of PGN Batam, Wendi Purwanto, stated that this achievement is part of the target to connect 4,045 house connections (SR), which is still being pursued for completion. “As of last March, 3,757 customers have been gas-in. We are still completing the target of 4,045 first before proceeding to the next target,” he said when contacted in Batam on Monday. He explained that PGN Batam is targeting a total of 10,000 house connections to be realised in 2026. “We are still pursuing the 10,000 target to be completed this year, but currently, we are focusing on completing the 4,045 first, then continuing,” he said. In its implementation, PGN Batam is also carrying out canvassing or gathering customer interest along with re-verification of data. “This canvassing is to ensure that customer data is valid and to confirm that they are still interested in connecting to the gas network,” Wendi said. To date, 8,595 prospective customers have registered, with 3,057 of them already validated. PGN Batam is developing the network in three districts in the city, namely Sagulung, Batam Kota, and Batu Aji. “Now the challenge is that the locations are scattered because only a few points remain,” he said. Several housing complexes currently undergoing gas connections include Taman Carina, Rosinton, Cemara Asri, Taman Anugerah, Taman Teratai 3, Masyeba, Sierra, Graha Nusa Batam, Mitra Centre, Suka Maju, Villa Muka Kuning, Legenda Malaka, Hang Tuah Kasturi, Oma, Villa Hang Lekir, and KDA. PGN Batam targets that the entire jargas programme this year can be completed on time to support more efficient and environmentally friendly household energy needs.
