PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) is strengthening the implementation of safety measures in the oil and gas sector through synergy with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas (Ditjen Migas) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). This effort aims to maintain the reliability of national natural gas infrastructure amid increasing demand for safe and sustainable energy supplies.

Joko Hadi Wibowo, Director of Oil and Gas Engineering and Environment at Ditjen Migas, stated that safety is a key pillar in supporting national energy resilience. He emphasised that the consistent implementation of the Oil and Gas Safety Management System (SMKM) and the reinforcement of a safety culture are essential to protecting workers, the community, and the environment, while ensuring the reliability of installations and the continuity of energy supply.

Mirza Mahendra, Director of Strategy and Business Development at PGN, affirmed that safety is the company’s top priority in operating its extensive gas infrastructure network. He noted that HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) implementation goes beyond regulatory compliance and has become an integral part of the company’s work culture to guarantee safe, reliable, and sustainable operations.

PGN has recorded significant safety milestones, including over 484 million safe man-hours. The company’s commitment is further demonstrated through the execution of 48 Management Walkthroughs and 23 Management on Duty activities. In recognition of its performance, PGN has received 15 Patra Nirbhaya awards for oil and gas safety and five Proper awards for environmental management. PGN operates the largest natural gas infrastructure network in Indonesia, spanning multiple provinces and serving various customer segments through both pipeline and beyond-pipeline services.
