PGA golf school lands sponsorship

JAKARTA (JP): Prestasi Golf Andalan golf school received sponsorship on Friday from Mizuno sports equipment manufacturer.

The deal was announced during the launching of Mizuno's newest golf equipment, Presage, at the school on Friday. John Russel, the head of the school located in the Sudirman central business district, received a set of Presage golf equipment symbolizing the sponsorship.

Mizuno team leader for the Asia-Oceania zone Ken Kaihatsu expressed hope the manufacturer could provide sponsorships to other sports in the nation next year.

"This year, we are focusing our sponsorship on the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney." He did not disclose the amount of the sponsorship deal with the school.

Presage's golf equipment sells for Rp 2.39 million (US$332) for a fairway wood, Rp 2.590 million for a driver wood and Rp 9.290 million for a set of irons. The Golf House, Mizuno's distributor here, is offering a 15 percent discount on the items until Jan. 9. (ivy)
