Ngadiredly Sugar Factory (PG Ngadiredjo) in Kediri Regency, East Java, is encouraging sugarcane transport truck drivers to deliver the highest quality raw materials as part of an effort to implement standardised raw material quality.

The Acting General Manager of PG Ngadiredjo, Faiz Humami, stated that the quality of sugarcane raw material is a decisive factor in the quality of white crystal sugar produced during the factory’s processing. “Therefore, PG Ngadiredjo implements a selection process for received raw materials, prioritising sugarcane that meets the ‘Sweet, Clean, and Fresh’ (MBS) principle,” he said in Kediri on Friday.

The factory is also showing appreciation to truck drivers delivering the best quality raw materials to encourage the implementation of standardised sugarcane quality. This appreciation is provided through the ‘Jumat Berkah’ (Friday Blessing) programme, which awards 10 kilograms of sugar to drivers transporting Category A sugarcane, which represents the highest quality.

“On this Friday Blessing occasion, we are appreciating the lucky truck drivers by providing 10 kilograms of sugar each, specifically those transporting ‘plontos’ sugarcane under Category A criteria,” said Faiz Humami. He expressed hope that this recognition would motivate drivers to maintain the quality of sugarcane delivered to PG Ngadiredjo, noting that the appreciation will be given every Friday.

Meanwhile, the Crop Manager of PG Ngadiredjo, Sabar Dwi Komaruddin, explained that there are several categories for sugarcane raw material acceptance at the factory, ranging from Category A to G. Category A consists of sugarcane free from ‘daduk’ (dry sugarcane leaves), using ‘tali tutus’, and without ‘sogolan’ (new shoots), tops, or non-sugarcane material. Category B contains slight amounts of tops and dry leaves but lacks shoots and non-sugarcane material.

He added that Category C includes sugarcane with shoots, tops, and dry leaves, including harvester cane, but without non-sugarcane material. Category D involves sugarcane with significant shoots, dry leaves, and top ties. Category E refers to burnt sugarcane, while Category F consists of sugarcane mixed with non-sugarcane material such as soil, stones, and leaves. Category G refers to ‘brondolan’ (small pieces of sugarcane stalks).

Sabar also invited truck drivers to contribute the best quality raw materials to ensure quality is maintained and to stand a chance of receiving rewards. “Let us submit the best quality sugarcane. Quality is maintained with clean sugarcane, and prizes await,” he said.

PG Ngadiredjo in Kediri Regency is conducting its 2026 milling season for 200 days, aiming to process 11 million quintals of sugarcane to produce 80,000 tonnes of sugar. The milling process is currently ongoing.
