PG Assembagoes Situbondo targets 540,670-tonne sugarcane milling this year
Situbondo Sugar Factory (PG) Assembagoes in East Java aims to process 540,670 tonnes of sugarcane in the 2026 milling season from 6,681 hectares of land planted with sugarcane by local farmers and KSO PT Perkebunan Nusantara in the area.
General Manager Mulyono said he is optimistic that this year’s sugarcane milling target of 540,670 tonnes and sugar production target of 39,365 tonnes can be achieved due to support from the Asosiasi Petani Tebu Rakyat (APTR), sugarcane truck drivers, and all employees and stakeholders.
“Alhamdulillah, the 2026 sugarcane milling season began today, and we hope that during the next few months of milling, it will proceed smoothly and safely, bringing blessings to the farmers,” he said after the official commencement of the 2026 milling season at the PG Assembagoes operational area in Situbondo on Thursday.
Mulyono detailed that out of the 6,681 hectares of sugarcane fields, 684 hectares belong to the KSO PT Perkebunan Nusantara (TS SGN-KSO PTPN), while the remaining 5,982 hectares are from local farmers’ sugarcane within the PG Assembagoes area.
Long before the milling season began, Mulyono added, PG Assembagoes underwent various readiness tests to ensure the sugar factory managed by PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (PT SGN) operates optimally.
“PG Assembagoes prepared two aspects, on-farm and off-farm. Off-farm preparations were made well in advance, and the sugar factory team has confirmed readiness for milling, while for raw materials (on-farm), the enthusiasm of sugarcane farmers is evident,” Mulyono said.
Meanwhile, PT Sinergi Gula Nusantara (SGN) Regional Head II Wayan Mei Purwono, who attended the first day of sugarcane milling at PG Assembagoes, stated that PG Assembagoes is expected to increase raw sugar production to support sugar self-sufficiency, particularly by improving sugarcane yield or the percentage of sugar content in the cane.
“Especially, the yield can be increased above 7 percent as the weather this milling season is highly conducive for improving yield,” he added.
Observations indicate that the start of sugarcane milling was marked by the release of 19 pigeons by the PG Assembagoes General Manager, SGN Regional II Board of Directors, and local APTR representatives.
