PFII to Commence Operations in Jakarta, Bali Still Under Evaluation
The government has confirmed that the Indonesia International Financial Centre (PFII) will commence its initial phase of operations in Jakarta. Plans for developing the PFII in Bali are still under evaluation.
Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government has designated Jakarta as the initial location for the PFII so that the international financial centre can begin operating promptly.
“It has been decided, the initial phase will be in Jakarta,” Airlangga said when met at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office, as quoted by Detikcom on Thursday (20/8/2026).
However, Airlangga has not yet disclosed the specific location that will be used as the PFII’s initial office.
Meanwhile, plans to build the PFII in Bali are still being reviewed by the government. According to Airlangga, one of the locations being evaluated is on land owned by the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (Danantara).
“Bali is under evaluation, at one of the locations owned by Danantara,” he said.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani revealed the reasoning behind the selection of Jakarta and Bali as locations for the Indonesia International Financial Centre (PFII).
According to him, Jakarta as the initial location was driven by President Prabowo Subianto’s desire for the institution to begin operating immediately.
“The initial location is indeed Jakarta first. Why? Because the President wants everything to start working right away, there is momentum,” Rosan said after a press conference at the Directorate General of Taxes office in Jakarta on Friday (14/8/2026).
As for Bali, Rosan said building the PFII there requires time for the construction process, including the development of physical infrastructure. However, Bali was chosen because it holds strong appeal in the eyes of global investors.
