Executive Director of Political Review (IPR) Iwan Setiawan assessed that the ratification of the International Financial Centre Indonesia (PFII) Law is a strategic step demonstrating the commitment of the government and the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to building stronger national economic foundations. According to Iwan, the PFII Law should be seen as part of the state’s strategic policy in facing global economic changes while strengthening Indonesia’s position in attracting international trust. “The PFII Law shows the seriousness of the government and the DPR in presenting regulations that support the strengthening of the national financial ecosystem. This is not just about building an institution or an area, but how the state prepares policy instruments to face future economic challenges,” said Iwan. He stated that in the context of national development, regulatory certainty is a crucial factor in building the confidence of various parties in government policy. According to him, the existence of the PFII legal umbrella provides a clearer direction for the development of Indonesia’s international financial centre while still considering national interests. “Every strategic policy certainly requires a strong legal foundation. With the PFII Law, the government has a basis to develop a financial ecosystem that is more focused, transparent, and has good governance standards,” he said. Iwan assessed that collaboration between the government, the DPR, regulators, and stakeholders is an important factor in ensuring the implementation of the PFII Law proceeds according to its objectives. According to him, the next challenge is not only the formation of regulations, but how the policy can be translated consistently in its execution. “The success of a public policy is not only measured by the process of forming the law, but also by how its implementation provides benefits to society and supports the national development agenda,” said Iwan. Furthermore, Iwan hopes the PFII can become an instrument that strengthens confidence in Indonesia’s economic policies while supporting the government’s efforts to enhance national competitiveness. “The ratification of the PFII Law is an important step. What is needed next is consistency in implementation so that the goal of strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global economy can be achieved,” said Iwan.
