Pezeshkian Says Iran Ready to Continue Peace Path if US Builds Trust

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Iran is ready to continue on the peace path if the United States builds trust. Iran is seeking to move along the peace path based on the provisions of the MoU, Pezeshkian said at a press conference.

“Now is the best time to reach an agreement, because there is solidarity, strength and unity at home,” he added.

“We are determined to use the MoU as a foundation on the condition that the US removes the atmosphere of distrust it has created, and an atmosphere of mutual trust can be formed,” he said.

He highlighted the principle of reciprocity in negotiations with the US, noting that Iran will adjust its commitments according to the level of US compliance.

If the other side seeks to use force, Iran will not let it pass. The basis of Iran’s actions will ultimately depend on the decision of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.

In June, Iran and the US signed an MoU on ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon. The two sides were originally scheduled to hold negotiations within 60 days to reach a final agreement, but the recent escalation in the region has created uncertainty over the continuation of talks.
