Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed that Iran “will not waver in defending its legitimate rights,” whilst emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy must be prioritised to protect national interests. Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Sunday, Pezeshkian said that if Iran can secure its rights through dialogue and diplomacy, there is no reason for the country to continue fighting. The statement was made as Iran is engaged in negotiations with the United States in Switzerland, mediated by Pakistan and Qatar, within the framework of 60-day talks aimed at reaching a final agreement. Pezeshkian described national unity and solidarity as Iran’s greatest achievement following US and Israeli aggression against his country. According to him, coordination and solidarity across all state institutions have been extraordinary and unprecedented, and must be maintained and continuously strengthened. He said the negotiation process has been presented to Iran’s Supreme Leader, whilst members of the Supreme National Security Council have also conveyed their views on the process. “The great and extraordinary developments we are witnessing today are the result of unprecedented coordination and solidarity among the country’s political, executive, military, security, and judicial spheres,” Pezeshkian said.
