Pezeshkian: Iran Engaged in Full-Scale War with the US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that his country is currently engaged in a full-scale war with the United States (US). The statement came as the US expanded its airstrikes into Iran.

“The reality is that the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently involved in a full-scale war,” Pezeshkian said in a statement on Monday (20/7/2026).

Pezeshkian added that the ongoing battle is a consequence of Iran’s decision to confront and oppose the US. “We must be realistic and accept the natural consequences of this resistance,” he said.

On Monday, the US launched attacks on several areas in Iran. According to local media reports, all the provinces targeted by the US house military bases and air defence systems.

The US military also struck the Bushehr region, where Iran’s only civilian nuclear power plant is located. “A few minutes ago, several locations in the city of Bushehr were hit by enemy American projectiles,” said Governor Mohammad Mozaffari.
