Istanbul (ANTARA) - Iranian President Masoud Pechiskian has asserted that Tehran is not seeking war, but will never remain silent in the face of any aggression.

Pezeshkian made the statement on Monday, marking his first comment since the United States attack on Iran’s Larak Island on Sunday (30/8).

He stated that Iran would respond firmly to any further attacks and would provide a decisive response to aggressors if attacked.

“Instability and unrest in the region do not benefit any country and will pose a challenge to all parties,” he said, as reported by the Fars news agency.

Previously on Sunday, US forces attacked two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island, marking the first US strike within Iranian territory since late July, according to a US official speaking to Axios.

The operation targeted systems allegedly being prepared to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that several fighters and civilians were killed or injured in the attack and vowed to retaliate.

Iran’s Tasnim news agency reported that preliminary information suggests the attack was carried out by drones.
