Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2026 officially opened at Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo), Kemayoran, on Thursday. Its theme, “The Future of Clean and Efficient Mobility”, highlights the potential of electric vehicles to improve cost efficiency and drive the energy transition.

Periklindo chairman Moeldoko said the arrival of electric vehicles in Indonesia and globally had the potential to be a game changer, from ideas and concepts to technology and energy use.

He said the shift from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles could reduce household spending, particularly on vehicle energy.

“Someone who normally drives a conventional ICE car might spend Rp6 million, Rp7 million or even Rp8 million a month on petrol. But with an EV, they would pay only around Rp800,000,” Moeldoko said at the opening of PEVS 2026 at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The use of electric vehicles, therefore, is not merely a change in transport technology; it could also affect how households manage their finances.

Moeldoko also highlighted the potential for widespread EV adoption to reduce the national fuel subsidy burden, which stands at Rp264 trillion.

In his view, the transition to electric vehicles could support more efficient energy use while creating a cleaner environment for future generations.

PEVS 2026 is being held in Hall C3 at JIExpo Kemayoran from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The automotive exhibition focuses on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and aims to introduce the latest developments in electric vehicles to the public through its theme of clean and efficient mobility.

On its opening day, Thursday 29 October, the exhibition is open to the public from 12.00 to 19.00 WIB.

On 30 and 31 October, opening hours are 10.00 to 19.00 WIB, while on the final day, 1 November, the exhibition is open from 10.00 to 18.00 WIB.
