Petualangan Dinos 2: Innovation in Educational Films Using AI Technology
Indonesia’s film industry has introduced a new innovation through the launch of Petualangan Dinos 2. This 32-minute film has garnered attention for being produced using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, making it the first AI-generated work scheduled for theatrical release at Teater Keong Mas, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta.
Produced by Media8 Pictures in collaboration with AI Labs, the film is a sequel to the successful Petualangan Dinos 1 from 2019. Koamirullah, Executive Producer of Media8 Pictures, expressed optimism that the use of AI technology would provide a more engaging and appealing visual experience for child and family audiences.
“We are proud to present the first AI film to be screened at Teater Keong Mas. As the owner of the intellectual property, we are committed to continuing this series with even more exciting adventures,” said Koamirullah in an official statement during the film’s launch event at TMII on Saturday, 14 March.
The film’s production took more than two months under the direction of filmmaker Agus Hendra Jaya. The story focuses on Ferry’s adventure alongside his two friends, Seli and Raka, who discover an adorable baby T-Rex named Rexi.
Conflict escalates when Rexi’s presence triggers panic amongst residents, leading to the involvement of humans from the year 5000 who attempt to maintain temporal balance.
The narrative takes audiences across time to the prehistoric era of two million years ago. Beyond offering imagination about the ancient world, the film emphasises messages of friendship and courage in facing challenging obstacles.
The arrival of Petualangan Dinos 2 during the Eid holiday period is expected to further promote the utilisation of digital technology in educational and family entertainment cinema in Indonesia.
