Petrol Fuel Consumption During Eid Holiday Period Forecast to Surge 12%
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the National Command Post for Ramadan and Eid 2026 has recorded that fuel consumption, particularly petrol, is forecast to increase by up to 12% during the holiday period.
Erika Retnowati, head of the National Command Post for the ESDM sector during Ramadan and Eid 2026, stated that during the Ramadan and Eid 2026 period, the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (BPH Migas) together with PT Pertamina (Persero) have placed on standby 125 fuel terminals, 7,888 petrol stations and 72 fuel distribution points, with additional facilities being provided in areas with the highest fuel demand.
“Overall, fuel reserve resilience conditions are secure for both petrol, diesel, kerosene and jet fuel,” Erika said during the press conference for the National Command Post ESDM Sector for Ramadan and Eid 2026 on Thursday (12 March 2026).
Fuel demand projections during the command post period indicate petrol consumption is estimated to increase by up to 12% from normal conditions. “Petrol will rise approximately 12%, whilst diesel will fall 14.5% from normal conditions. Jet fuel is estimated to rise 2.8% and kerosene will increase 4.2%,” Erika stated firmly.
Furthermore, regarding Liquefied Petroleum Gas, the ESDM Ministry through the Directorate General of Oil and Gas and Pertamina have also placed on standby 40 LPG terminals, 757 LPG distribution points and 6,662 LPG agents. The forecast indicates LPG reserve resilience is secure and LPG supply will be maintained stable during the Ramadan and Eid holiday period, with LPG agents and distribution points on 24-hour standby, particularly in areas with high demand.
“The projection for LPG distribution during the command post period is predicted to increase approximately 4% compared with average normal distribution,” Erika stated.
