PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Tengah projects that demand for petrol and motor fuel in Central Java and Yogyakarta Special Region will experience significant increases during the Eid 2026 holiday period.

“We estimate that daily petrol consumption will surge by 30.3 percent to 16,863 kilolitres compared to the normal average of 12,943 kilolitres,” said Fanda Chrismianto, Executive General Manager of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Bagian Tengah, on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Fanda predicts that within petrol demand, the highest increase will occur in Pertamax Turbo products, reaching 55.3 percent. This is followed by Pertalite at 30.2 percent, and Pertamax experiencing a surge of 29.7 percent.

Petrol demand is projected to move in the opposite direction to diesel fuel, which is estimated to decline by 10.3 percent. Estimated daily diesel consumption will fall from 7,069 kilolitres to 6,340 kilolitres.

“This decline in diesel consumption is a direct result of the Transport Ministry’s policy imposing restrictions on freight transport during the mudik and return periods of Eid, which are scheduled for 13 to 29 March 2026,” said Fanda.

Fanda added that given the intensity and proximity of this year’s Eid holiday to other national holidays, special attention is required for supply preparation.

With Eid falling on 21-22 March and closely coinciding with Nyepi public holiday on 18-19 March, “we are placing fuel, LPG, and aviation fuel stocks on standby at all supply points,” he said.

In the distribution sector, Fanda stated that the company has mapped out two anticipated peaks in the mudik flow, expected on 14-15 March and 18-20 March 2026. Distribution will rely partly on the one-way system support on the Trans Java toll road from KM 70 Cikampek to KM 421 Semarang-Solo.

Region Manager Supply & Distribution Pertamina Patra Niaga Jawa Bagian Tengah Priyo Djatmiko explained that household LPG consumption during the Ramadan-Eid period is also expected to rise 9 percent to 5,293 metric tonnes per day.

According to him, the company has prepared security measures for stock through additional allocations in the form of extra dropping of 8.33 percent, equivalent to 3,145,050 cylinders, to be distributed in stages.

“We also have an allocation of 5,902,480 LPG cylinders to anticipate the surge in demand during Eid and Nyepi,” he said.

To ensure the distribution of 3 kilogramme LPG cylinders, Pertamina is also preparing additional plans for regular allocation totalling 37.7 million cylinders across the Central Java region.
