Petrol Consumption Rises 16 Percent During 2026 Eid al-Fitr Homecoming

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has assured that the energy supply remains secure during the Task Force (Satgas) period for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026. Amid the surge in public mobility, consumption of quality fuels, particularly the Pertamax Series, has been recorded to increase significantly. Based on monitoring data from 9–26 March 2026, consumption of petrol-type fuels rose by an average of 16 percent compared to normal daily consumption in January 2026. In detail, daily consumption of Pertamax (RON 92) increased by around 33.9 percent, while Pertamax Turbo, aimed at high-performance vehicles, rose by 33.7 percent. Notably, the environmentally friendly Pertamax Green product recorded the highest increase, up to 95.8 percent compared to normal consumption, reflecting growing public interest in more eco-friendly fuels. Peak fuel consumption occurred on 19 March 2026, with an increase of 37.8 percent, while during the return flow period, consumption rose by 20.1 percent on 26 March 2026. For diesel or gasoil fuels, an upward trend was also observed, with Pertamina Dex consumption up 27.4 percent and Dexlite increasing by 4.9 percent compared to normal conditions. Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth M.V. Dumatubun, stated that this trend in rising quality fuel consumption aligns with the increased long-distance travel by the public. He added that the company has prepared various infrastructure and additional services to ensure smooth energy distribution during the Eid period.
