Ports are strategic infrastructure ensuring the smooth supply of raw materials for production and the distribution of fertiliser to regions across Indonesia.

Jakarta (ANTARA) — The Terminal for Its Own Interest (TUKS) owned by Petrokimia Gresik has been named the nation’s best port in the Green and Smart Port assessment at the 2026 Green and Smart Port Initiatives (GSPI) — Safe, Healthy, Clean and Beautiful (ASRI) — event.

Petrokimia Gresik President Director Daconi Khotob said the award recognises the company’s commitment to developing port management that is not only operationally reliable but also prioritises safety, sustainability, innovation and digitalisation.

“Ports are strategic infrastructure ensuring the smooth supply of raw materials for the production process and the distribution of fertiliser to various regions of Indonesia in support of national food sovereignty,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Going forward, he added, the company will continue to maximise port transformation through strengthened digitalisation, improved safety standards, service efficiency and continuous innovation, in order to add value for the company while supporting the national food logistics system.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan presented the best port award to TUKS Petrokimia Gresik at the GSPI ASRI 2026 main event at Pier C, Petrokimia Gresik, East Java, on Tuesday (14 July).

Based on the Green and Smart Port (GSP) assessment results, TUKS Petrokimia Gresik was named the nation’s best port. The evaluation was carried out comprehensively according to the Green and Smart Port Guidelines 3.0/2023, which draw on national regulations and international best practices.

The national best port title was secured after TUKS Petrokimia Gresik achieved a final score of 94 per cent in the GSP assessment, an improvement on its 82 per cent score in 2022.

The achievement reflects the consistent application of Green and Smart Port principles through strengthened port governance, energy efficiency, integrated digital-based operational systems and continuous innovation to support the smooth supply of raw materials for production and fertiliser distribution across Indonesia.

On the occasion, Minister Zulhas said food resilience is determined not only by production output; a reliable logistics system is also key to ensuring food reaches every region of Indonesia effectively and efficiently.

“Ports are strategic nodes connecting production, distribution and food availability throughout Indonesia. That is why transforming ports towards a green and smart ecosystem is no longer a choice but a necessity,” he said.

He added that GSPI ASRI is not merely an award event, but also a platform to strengthen a shared commitment to building competitive ports that support food resilience while preserving the environment.

According to Zulhas, the government will continue to refine the implementation of GSPI ASRI through strengthened assessment instruments, enhanced ASRI aspects and broader participation of ports across the regions, so that the transformation of the port sector proceeds ever faster.
