Petrokimia Gresik to bolster gas supply from Ketapang Working Area
Natural gas is one of the main feedstocks in fertiliser production. Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Petrokimia Gresik is strengthening its gas supply resilience from the MDA-MBH Field in the Madura Strait and Ketapang Working Area in the North Channel of Madura Island to support the continuity of national fertiliser production. The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, said that through this strengthening Petrokimia Gresik could potentially obtain an additional gas supply of around 30–35 MMSCFD to strengthen the reliability of the company’s operations in supporting the sustainability of fertiliser production and other agroindustrial products until 2035. The strategic step was formalised by the signing of a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) between Petrokimia Gresik and Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) for the MDA-MBH Field, and the signing of a Head of Agreement (HoA) with PC Ketapang II Ltd regarding plans for a gas sales and purchase collaboration in the Ketapang Working Area. The strengthening of synergies between the fertiliser industry and the energy sector, according to Daconi, represents a strategic move to safeguard production continuity while supporting the national food security agenda. “Natural gas is one of the main feedstocks in fertiliser production. Therefore, gas supply certainty and stronger collaboration with energy suppliers are integral to the company’s commitment to maintaining operational continuity and supporting the productivity of the national agricultural sector,” he said. Through the cooperation, he added, the company strengthens the certainty of gas supply to support the company’s operational continuity. The collaboration also marks an initial step in strengthening strategic long-term gas supply arrangements to bolster the reliability of the company’s energy supply in the future. It also reflects the company’s sustained commitment to building a reliable, adaptive, and sustainable energy-supply system. Daconi added that collaboration between the fertiliser industry and the energy sector plays a strategic role in maintaining the stability of national fertiliser production amid global industry dynamics. “Cross-sector synergy is an important foundation for strengthening national industrial resilience. Petrokimia Gresik is committed to continuing to build strategic partnerships that deliver long-term benefits for the agriculture sector and Indonesia’s food security,” he said. Meanwhile, the PJBG between Petrokimia Gresik and HCML was signed by Petrokimia Gresik’s President Director, Daconi Khotob, together with HCML’s General Manager, Wang Kaifei, who was represented by the HCML VP Marketing, Legal, and Business Support, Wahyudin Sunarya. The HoA with PC Ketapang II Ltd was signed by Daconi Khotob together with PC Ketapang II Ltd’s President Director, Yuzaini Md Yusof.
