Petrokimia Gresik Strengthens Gas Supply to Safeguard National Fertiliser Production
Petrokimia Gresik, a Solution Agroindustry company and member of the PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero) holding, is continuing to strengthen long-term gas supply resilience to support the sustainability of national fertiliser production. This effort is realised through enhanced gas supply cooperation from the MDA-MBH Field in the Madura Strait and the Ketapang Working Area in the North Madura Sea.
Through this intensified collaboration, Petrokimia Gresik could receive an additional gas supply of around 30–35 MMSCFD to bolster operational reliability in supporting the sustainability of fertiliser and other agro-industrial products until 2035.
The strategic step was marked by the signing of a Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (PJBG) between Petrokimia Gresik and Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) for the MDA-MBH Field, witnessed directly by SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto, and the signing of a Head of Agreement (HoA) with Ketapang II Ltd regarding a plan for gas sales and purchases in the Ketapang Working Area. Petrokimia Gresik’s President Director Daconi Khotob personally signed both agreements with the relevant parties in Tangerang recently.
Daconi said strengthening synergy between the fertiliser industry and the energy sector is a strategic move to maintain production sustainability while supporting the national food security agenda. “Natural gas is one of the main raw materials in fertiliser production. Therefore, gas supply certainty and strengthened collaboration with energy suppliers are an important part of the company’s commitment to maintaining operational sustainability and supporting productivity in the national agricultural sector,” he said in a press release on Friday (22 May 2026).
Through this cooperation, Petrokimia Gresik strengthens gas supply certainty to support operational sustainability. The signing of the HoA with Ketapang II Ltd also represents the initial step in strengthening long-term strategic gas supply collaboration to bolster the company’s energy supply reliability in the future.
The cooperation also reflects the company’s sustainable commitment to building an energy supply system that is reliable, adaptive and sustainable. Daconi added that cross-sector collaboration between the fertiliser and energy sectors plays a strategic role in maintaining stability of national fertiliser production amid global industry dynamics.
“Cross-sector synergy becomes a crucial foundation for strengthening the resilience of the national economy. Petrokimia Gresik remains committed to building strategic partnerships that provide long-term benefits for the agricultural sector and Indonesia’s food security,” he added.
The PJBG between Petrokimia Gresik and HCML was signed by Petrokimia Gresik’s President Director Daconi Khotob and HCML General Manager Wang Kaifei, represented by HCML VP Marketing, Legal, and Business Support Wahyudin Sunarya. Meanwhile the HoA with Ketapang II Ltd was signed by Daconi Khotob and Ketapang II Ltd President Director Yuzaini Md Yusof.
