Petrokimia Gresik partners with MIND ID and PTFI to strengthen fertiliser raw materials
PT Petrokimia Gresik (Persero), alongside MIND ID and PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI), is strengthening its partnership in the provision of fertiliser raw materials to maintain production sustainability in support of national food security.
The President Director of Petrokimia Gresik, Daconi Khotob, stated that the state-owned fertiliser company has established a cooperation agreement with PTFI regarding the supply and absorption of sulphuric acid, following the commencement of operations at PTFI’s Manyar Smelter, for the 2026–2028 period.
“Sulphuric acid is one of the primary raw materials for Petrokimia Gresik, alongside natural gas. Therefore, certainty and reliability of supply are crucial to maintaining the sustainability of fertiliser production,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
He added that additional supplies from domestic sources will further strengthen the reliability of national fertiliser production, particularly to fulfil government mandates regarding fertiliser provision.
Previously, during a meeting between the three companies at the MIND ID office in Jakarta on Wednesday (9/9), Petrokimah Gresik and PTFI agreed to follow up and seek additional supplies of sulphuric acid from the Manyar Smelter in stages.
In addition to the extra supply from the Manyar Smelter, Petrokimia Gresik and PTFI also discussed the continuity of the sulphuric acid supply from PTFI Smelting.
The strengthening of domestic supply sources is expected to further enhance the resilience of Petrokimia Gresik’s raw material supply chain.
