PetroChina Jabung to Drill Six New Oil and Gas Wells in 2026, Targeting 11,670 Barrels of Oil Per Day
Jakarta – PetroChina International Jabung Ltd is targeting the drilling of six new development wells in 2026 to maintain and increase oil and gas production in the Jabung Working Area in Jambi.
Senior Development Manager of PetroChina Jabung Wicaksono stated that drilling represents a key project for the company in supporting national energy resilience.
“In 2026 project activities, we are starting with our first key project, which is certainly drilling. Drilling is one of our key projects to maintain production,” Wicaksono said in Jakarta on Friday (27 February 2026).
“In 2026, we have six new drilling wells that year, one of which we have already completed drilling and tested, and there will be some results from our drilling this year,” he added.
The six exploration wells are part of a contract extension. Two wells were drilled in 2024, whilst four others remain in the site preparation and land clearance stage.
“Of course, we also need to conduct good collaboration with SKK Migas and local government, and we hope this drilling can be carried out in mid-2027,” he said.
PetroChina Jabung is targeting oil and condensate production of 11,670 barrels per day in 2026. The target gas production, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), stands at 143 million standard cubic feet per day.
“The 2026 target is quite challenging. For oil and condensate, it is around 11,670 barrels per day, and for gas including LPG it is 143 million standard cubic feet per day,” he explained.
The company is partnering with Pertamina Hulu Energi, Petronas Carigali, PT GPI, and PT Raharja Energi Tanjung Jabung.
In terms of production, the Jabung Working Area ranks among the top 10 national oil and gas producers.
