The petrochemical industry is required to meet increasingly stringent quality, environmental, and occupational safety standards as demand for national industrial raw materials rises. The adoption of international standards is considered a key factor in determining the competitiveness and operational reliability of companies in the sector. PT LOTTE Chemical Indonesia (LCI), for instance, has obtained Integrated Management System (IMS) certification from British Standards Institution (BSI) Group Indonesia, encompassing ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2015 for Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems. The certificates are accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). The certification was awarded after the company underwent a two-stage audit covering documentation evaluation, effectiveness of procedure implementation, and conformity of management system application in product quality control, environmental compliance, and occupational safety. The audit was conducted in an integrated manner with a scope covering both the site office and head office for petrochemical manufacturing activities. PT LOTTE Chemical Indonesia President Director Yim Dong Hee stated that the certification reflects the strengthening of the company’s systems and work culture in line with international standards. “Obtaining this certification is evidence that LCI’s systems and work culture continue to be strengthened according to internationally recognised standards. We are committed to making this achievement a foundation for supporting the growth of a more reliable and competitive national petrochemical industry,” Yim said in a press release on Wednesday (24/6/2026). He noted that the implementation of the three ISO standards ensures operational processes run more consistently, measurably, and with proper documentation, from product quality control and environmental impact management to workforce safety protection. Yim added that the company will continue to conduct regular surveillance audits and continuous improvements to maintain the effectiveness of the implemented management systems. “This certification is not merely an administrative achievement. Going forward, we will continue to ensure the management system implementation runs consistently through periodic surveillance audits and continuous improvement,” he said. As a petrochemical producer, LCI’s products are used as raw materials for various industrial sectors, including plastics, packaging, healthcare, textiles, and automotive components. With an ethylene production capacity of 1 million tonnes per year and propylene capacity of 520,000 tonnes per year, the company is a key supplier in the national manufacturing supply chain. The company considers the application of internationally recognised quality, environmental, and occupational safety standards as one of the foundations for developing a more reliable, efficient, and sustainable petrochemical industry amid the increasing demand for domestic industrial raw materials.
