JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Flooding continues to inundate residential areas on Jalan Pulo Raya, Petogogan, South Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon (8 March 2026).

At the scene, murky water covers almost the entire roadway and floods several home courtyards.

Currently the water level is around 20–25 centimetres, about shin-height for an adult, though it had been much higher previously.

Darmaji, a local security guard, said the flooding began around midnight due to continuous heavy rain.

He added that at its worst, the water reached up to an adult’s knee, and in Pulo 4 it even reached the chest, about 120 centimetres.

“If the rain continues from the afternoon, it will get heavier into the night. The Kali Krukut River is overflowing,” he said.

Nevertheless, some residents continued to go about their activities in the floodwater. Some walked through the water to check their surroundings, while others began clearing floodwater from in front of their homes.

Hilman, a local resident, was seen using a scoop to push water out of the house’s yard.

He added that residents in the area generally do not evacuate to a shelter but prefer to stay temporarily with relatives.

By midday, water still covered part of Jalan Pulo Raya 4, though the level had begun to subside compared with the flood peak.
