Pesisir Selatan Health Office Strengthens Early TB Detection in Nagari Koto Baru
The Health, Population Control and Family Planning Office (Dinkes PPKB) of Pesisir Selatan Regency has strengthened tuberculosis (TB) prevention and control efforts through integrated TB case finding activities combined with free health checks (CKG) in Nagari Koto Baru, within the working area of Koto Berapak Community Health Centre, on Wednesday (19/8).
The activity targeted 100 residents of Nagari Koto Baru. The implementation of integrated TB case finding with CKG aims to increase public awareness of the importance of early detection, while encouraging the community to take greater care of their health.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that can affect anyone, particularly the lungs. The disease can be cured if detected early and the patient receives standard treatment until completion.
The public is urged to recognise a number of TB symptoms, including a persistent cough lasting two weeks or more, a phlegm-producing cough that may be accompanied by blood, fever or night sweats, unexplained weight loss, reduced appetite, and a feeling of weakness and easy fatigue.
Residents experiencing these symptoms or who have had close contact with TB patients are asked not to wait until their condition worsens. Examinations can be carried out immediately at the community health centre to confirm their health status and receive appropriate treatment.
Through CKG, the public not only obtains information about their health condition but also contributes to detecting TB cases earlier. Residents identified as suspected TB cases will receive follow-up examinations in accordance with health service standards.
Early case detection is considered important to accelerate treatment while preventing TB transmission to family members and the surrounding environment. Therefore, community involvement is a crucial part of breaking the chain of disease transmission.
This activity is the result of collaboration between the Pesisir Selatan Regency Health Office, Koto Berapak Community Health Centre, the Nagari Koto Baru Government, health cadres and the community. This cross-sector collaboration is part of a joint effort to create a healthier society and support the acceleration of TB elimination.
The Health Office invites the entire community to work together to break the chain of TB transmission by recognising symptoms, undergoing examinations as early as possible, completing treatment until cured, and preventing transmission. Find TB as early as possible, treat until cured, and prevent its transmission.
