PERURI Transforms Production Waste into Usable Products

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Government Securities Printing Corporation (PERURI) is processing high-security paper waste into paving blocks as part of an effort to reduce production waste while supporting the implementation of a circular economy. The innovation was introduced at the Sunda Karsa Fest: Karya Kreatif Jawa Barat (KKJ) 2026 event, held from 26 to 28 June 2026 at the Trans Convention Center in Bandung. “PERURI’s participation in Sunda Karsa Fest KKJ 2026 is a tangible manifestation that sustainability can be achieved through concrete steps. From prudent management of production waste, reuse of materials, to collaboration with various parties,” said PERURI Head of Corporate Secretary Adi Sunardi in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. At the exhibition, PERURI showcased various sustainability programmes through a booth themed around innovation in waste management to create value-added products. The high-security paper waste is processed under strict procedures to maintain information security. The paper is shredded and incinerated, then the resulting ash is mixed with other materials and moulded into paving blocks. This innovation not only ensures the destruction of documents to high-security standards but also reduces the volume of waste sent to landfill and supports the implementation of a circular economy. Adi stated that the company’s participation in Sunda Karsa Fest KKJ 2026 reflects its commitment to conducting sustainable business practices. “We believe that sustainable innovation not only has a positive impact on the environment but also creates real added value for the community,” Adi said. In addition to processing paper waste, PERURI also introduced the Peruri WearCycle programme, an initiative to recycle used work uniforms into new, functional products. Through this programme, the company aims to reduce textile waste while opening up collaboration opportunities with micro, small, and medium enterprises. PERURI also exhibited several other sustainability initiatives, including biodiversity conservation, energy efficiency through the use of LED lighting, electric vehicle operations, utilisation of renewable energy through rooftop solar power plants, and asset optimisation based on environmentally friendly concepts. Through these various initiatives, the company reaffirmed its commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles while promoting responsible waste management to support a more sustainable industrial ecosystem.
