PERURI Transforms Production Waste into Usable Products
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perusahaan Umum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (PERURI) is processing security paper waste into paving blocks as part of an effort to reduce production waste while supporting the implementation of a circular economy.
This innovation was introduced during the Sunda Karsa Fest: Karya Kreatif Jawa Barat (KKJ) 2026, held from 26–28 June 2026 at the Trans Convention Center, Bandung.
“PERURI’s participation in Sunda Karsa Fest KKJ 2026 is a tangible manifestation that sustainability can be achieved through concrete steps. This ranges from wise production waste management and material reuse to collaboration with various parties,” said PERURI’s Head of Corporate Secretary, Adi Sunardi, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
At the exhibition, PERURI showcased various sustainability programmes through a sustainability booth featuring innovations in transforming waste into value-added products. The security paper waste is processed through a strict procedure to ensure information security.
The paper is shredded and incinerated, after which the resulting ash is mixed with other materials and moulded into paving blocks.
This innovation not only ensures the destruction of documents according to high security standards but also reduces the volume of waste sent to landfills and supports the implementation of a circular economy.
Adi stated that the company’s participation in Sunda Karsa Fest KKJ 2026 represents its commitment to conducting sustainable business practices.
“We believe that sustainable innovation not only provides a positive impact on the environment but also creates real added value for society,” said Adi.
In addition to processing paper waste, PERURI also introduced the Peruri WearCycle programme, an initiative to recycle unused work uniforms into various new, useful products.
Through this programme, the company aims to reduce textile waste while creating opportunities for collaboration with micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
PERURI also showcased several other sustainability initiatives, including biodiversity conservation, energy efficiency through the use of LED lighting, the operation of electric vehicles, the use of renewable energy through Rooftop Solar Power Plants (PLTS Atap), and the optimisation of assets based on eco-friendly concepts.
Through these various initiatives, the company reaffirms its commitment to applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles while promoting responsible waste management to support a more sustainable industrial ecosystem.
