Peruri distributes aid to 59 veterans in Karawang

State-owned money printer Peruri has distributed financial assistance and basic food packages to 59 veterans in Karawang Regency, West Java.

The aid was delivered together with Kodim 0604/Karawang to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence, as part of the company’s social and environmental responsibility programme.

Peruri Head of Corporate Secretary Adi Sunardi said honouring veterans carries a meaning that extends beyond the provision of assistance.

“This activity is a form of our respect for the veterans who have given the best part of their lives for the nation and state,” Adi said.

He added that the assistance also serves as recognition for those who contributed to Indonesia’s struggle for independence.

As a state-owned enterprise entrusted with a strategic national mandate, Adi said Peruri views its contribution to Indonesia as encompassing not only the execution of its duties and business activities but also social benefit and care for others.

Peruri considers its social and environmental responsibility programme to be one of the company’s instruments for delivering direct social benefits to communities around its operational areas and other beneficiary groups.

Adi said the values of courage, unity, dedication and integrity inherited from the veterans are also relevant to the company’s efforts to carry out its mandate and business activities.

Meanwhile, Kodim 0604/Karawang representative Infantry Captain Darsono said attention to veterans must be maintained, while also helping to preserve younger generations’ awareness of the nation’s struggle.

“We hope the spirit of struggle, unity and dedication that has been passed down can continue to live on and serve as an example for the younger generation,” he said.

The collaboration between Peruri and Kodim 0604/Karawang is expected to strengthen the implementation of social programmes for the community while maintaining the continuity of recognition for veterans.
