The collaboration opens up opportunities to combine digital trust, cybersecurity and cryptography capabilities.

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Perum Percetakan Uang Republik Indonesia (Peruri) and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk have agreed to explore the development of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) to strengthen the security of Indonesia’s national digital systems and transactions.

“This collaboration opens up opportunities to combine digital trust, cybersecurity and cryptography capabilities to develop solutions relevant to Indonesia’s needs,” Peruri President Director Teguh Arief Indratmoko said in a written statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

The collaboration is part of the Quantum-Safe Indonesia initiative, which also involves the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) and Danantara Indonesia.

Teguh said the initiative is intended to improve the readiness of the national digital ecosystem for advances in quantum computing, which could weaken some of the cryptographic methods currently used to protect data and electronic transactions.

The cooperation between Peruri and Telkom covers exploring the development of quantum-resistant cryptography, assessing the readiness of security systems, applying the technology to digital services and strengthening human resource capabilities.

For Peruri, Teguh said, developing the technology is linked to strengthening digital identity services, electronic certificates, digital signatures and electronic document security, all of which form part of the company’s digital trust business.

Telkom President Director Nanang Hendarno said developments in quantum technology must be anticipated by strengthening organisations’ ability to identify digital security risks.

He said the collaboration was expected to help organisations map cryptographic assets, assess system readiness and develop structured mitigation measures.

“Today’s signing is a strategic foundation, while the technical implementation will continue to be explored with the parties involved,” Nanang said.

In carrying out the work, Peruri and Telkom will draw on their respective capabilities, guided by BSSN’s cybersecurity frameworks and standards and supported by ecosystem-wide coordination from Danantara.
