Jakarta (ANTARA) – Perum Perumnas, together with KAI Commument and relevant stakeholders, conducted an operational trial for the relocation of the tapping gates at Rawa Buntu Station on Saturday (3/10). This concrete step was taken to optimise station access while increasing the comfort, security, and smoothness of mobility for the residents of Samesta Mahata Serpong and KRL (commuter train) users.

The relocation of the tapping gates is part of the effort to strengthen the connectivity of the Samesta Mahata Serpong TOD area with public transport. Through increasingly integrated access, mobility between the residential area and Rawa Buntu Station is expected to become easier, providing added value for residents, KRL users, and the surrounding community.

Rawa Buntu Station is a major transport hub with high passenger mobility, averaging approximately 40,000–45,000 passengers per day. Given this level of mobility, the optimisation of access and the regulation of passenger flow are essential components in improving service comfort and efficiency.

Director of Risk Management and Legal, Nixon Sitorus, stated that developing connectivity between residential areas and public transport is a vital part of creating urban areas that are increasingly integrated and oriented towards community needs.

“For Perumnas, TOD is not merely about building housing near a station, but about ensuring that such housing is truly connected to public transport to facilitate community mobility. The relocation of the tapping gates at Rawa Buntu Station is a concrete step towards providing more comfortable, safe, and efficient access for both Samesta Mahata Serpong residents and KRL users,” said Nixon.

According to Nixon, strengthening regional connectivity is inseparable from cross-party collaboration to ensure that the integration between residential areas and public transport provides tangible benefits to the public.

“Collaboration with KAI, KAI Commuter, the Ministry of Transportation, and all stakeholders is key to realising the integration of the area and public transport. Perumnas will continue to encourage the development of Rawa Buntu Station while maintaining focus on safety, accessibility, and the comfort of KRL users,” Nixon added.

During the trial, the Vice President of Train Services Facilities and Customer Care at PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia, Adli Hakim Nasution, stated that the opening of access at Rawa Buntu continues the collaborative development of Transit Oriented Development areas alongside Perumnas.

“This is the third TOD project with Perumnas. Previously, in 2025, there was Tanjung Barat; subsequently, in 2026, Pondok Cina and Rawa Buntu have been opened for the TOD area. We hope this opening will increase ease for the general public, particularly for residents, public transport users, and tenants within the area,” said Adli.

According to Adli, the trial is a crucial part of assessing the effectiveness of the access implementation and operational requirements on the ground. Following the trial, a joint evaluation will be conducted to determine the need for adjustments or additional tapping gates based on operational conditions.

“We hope that after this trial, a joint evaluation can be conducted to assess effectiveness and field requirements. Moving forward, adjustments or the addition of tapping gates can be carried out as needed to ensure the implemented system is increasingly optimal,” Adli added.

Strengthening connectivity at Rawa Buntu Station is also expected to support subsequent stages of regional development, including the planned construction of the Ultimate Rawa Buntu Station and the development of direct connectivity to the Samesta Mahata Serpong area.

“We also hope this integration serves as a step to support the smooth progress of the Ultimate Station construction and the development of direct connectivity to Rawa Buntu Station in the future,” Adli explained.

Perumnas expressed its appreciation for the collaboration with KAI, KAI Commuter, the Ministry of Transportation, and all stakeholders who supported the trial. Such cross-party collaboration is essential in ensuring that the developed facilities and connectivity provide real benefits to the community.

Moving forward, the results of the trial and joint evaluation will inform efforts to optimise access to Rawa Buntu Station. Improved connectivity is expected to facilitate easier mobility for Samesta Mahata Serpong residents and KRL users, while further strengthening the integration of the Samesta Mahata Serpong TOD area with public transport.
