Jakarta (ANTARA) – State-owned housing developer Perum Perumnas is exploring a strategic partnership with PT Informasi Geo Sistem (IGS) to develop decent, affordable housing for low-income communities through the redevelopment of the Kebon Kacang flats in Central Jakarta.

Perumnas Acting President Director Imelda Alini Pohan said partnerships with various organisations were part of the company’s strategy to accelerate the optimisation of its assets while delivering housing developments that would benefit the wider community.

“We welcome the collaboration between Perumnas and PT Informasi Geo Sistem. We also hope the involvement of the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) and KORINDO Group will open up new perspectives and opportunities for developing Perumnas assets, while strengthening the company’s international cooperation network in infrastructure and housing development,” Imelda said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Under the collaboration, IGS will facilitate discussions with prospective foreign investors, namely KIND and KORINDO Group, to support the redevelopment project on Perumnas land.

The collaboration is expected to create opportunities for investment from international partners, enabling the housing area to be developed more effectively and sustainably.

One project under consideration is the redevelopment of the Kebon Kacang flats in Central Jakarta. The area has strategic access to economic centres and public transport, including the Thamrin-Sudirman corridor, Thamrin bus stop, Bundaran HI and Dukuh Atas MRT stations, and Tanah Abang Station.

The site currently comprises eight low-rise blocks with 632 homes and around 2,400 residents. Under the redevelopment plan, it could be expanded to more than 2,700 housing units for low-income communities.

Optimising land in an established strategic urban area would enable housing provision to make use of existing infrastructure and connectivity, while creating opportunities for a more productive residential district.

Redevelopment of residential areas is one way Perumnas is seeking to strengthen its role as a strategic government partner in supporting the 3 Million Homes programme for low-income communities, through asset optimisation, area development and closer collaboration with strategic partners.

Perumnas’s role in supporting the national housing agenda has been reinforced by the designation of 14 of its project sites as National Strategic Projects (PSN) under Presidential Regulation No. 68 of 2026.

The sites are spread across various regions and include several types of development, from large-scale housing estates and transit-oriented development (TOD) to urban high-rise housing and residential-area redevelopment.

The move is also part of Perumnas’s commitment to balancing its public-service mandate with business sustainability, while keeping housing for low-income communities central to its developments.

Perumnas said it would continue to play an important role in the national housing ecosystem and strengthen its contribution to delivering the 3 Million Homes programme for Indonesians.
