Perumdam Cianjur Ensures Maximum Water Supply to Customers Amid Dry Season

Perumdam Tirta Mukti Cianjur, West Java, has confirmed that water supply to 50,000 customers is being maintained at maximum levels despite a decline in several water sources, particularly surface water, during the dry season. Director Syamsul Hadi stated on Sunday that although surface water sources have decreased, distribution to households in Pacet, Karangtengah, Cilaku, Ciranjang, and Sindangbarang sub-districts continues. However, the water flow reaching customers is not at full capacity, prompting efforts such as relocating pumps to areas with higher water levels and deploying three water tankers to supplement supply. ‘Over the past week, areas relying on surface water sources have experienced reduced flow, so distribution has not been optimal. We are continuously working to improve the situation to restore normal flow,’ he said. Meanwhile, water distribution from the Cirumput spring remains unaffected, with no reports of reduced flow from customers in Cianjur, Warungkondang, and parts of Cilaku. Repairs to main pipe leaks at several points are being carried out swiftly to ensure uninterrupted supply to urban customers. For those experiencing reduced flow, water is immediately distributed via tankers to meet their daily needs. ‘We are committed to providing excellent service, including promptly addressing customer reports to restore and maximise water supply,’ he added. Beyond serving customers, Perumdam Tirta Mukti is also responding to requests for clean water from drought-affected residents, having distributed more than 250,000 litres to 13 sub-districts over the past week. ‘We are collaborating with the Cianjur Regional Disaster Management Agency, the Indonesian Red Cross, and other relevant agencies to distribute clean water to drought-affected areas from north to south, as long as they are accessible by large vehicles,’ he said.
