Perumda Pasar Jaya Boosts Grassroots Economy Through UMKM Bazaar
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perumda Pasar Jaya is encouraging grassroots economic growth by holding an UMKM and culinary bazaar at its headquarters on Jalan Cikini Raya No 90, Central Jakarta, as part of efforts to support the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM).
“This activity is part of Perumda Pasar Jaya’s ongoing efforts to support UMKM and strengthen the grassroots economic ecosystem in Jakarta,” said Pasar Jaya President Director Agus Himawan in Jakarta on Thursday.
He said the bazaar, which ran from morning until afternoon, featured dozens of UMKM fostered and partnered by Perumda Pasar Jaya offering various superior products. Ranging from kerak telor, nasi uduk, Padang satay, siomay, kebabs, various traditional snacks, to fresh drinks and local coffee, these proved a special attraction for the attending public. Visitors could also find various handicraft products, accessories, and typical Betawi souvenirs reflecting the richness of Jakarta’s culture.
“The organisation of this bazaar is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to providing wider promotional and marketing space for local business actors. UMKM are one of the important pillars of Jakarta’s economy,” he said.
Besides being a means of product promotion, this activity is also expected to increase the spirit of entrepreneurship, encourage local product innovation, and strengthen collaboration between business actors, the community, and various stakeholders in supporting regional economic growth.
Through the UMKM and Culinary Bazaar, Agus said, Perumda Pasar Jaya hopes to continue contributing to creating business opportunities, improving the welfare of UMKM actors, and strengthening the role of markets as centres of economic activity and community empowerment. According to him, this activity is also in line with the spirit of market transformation that Perumda Pasar Jaya continues to carry out to present modern, comfortable markets capable of becoming inclusive economic growth centres for all levels of society.
This activity is one of Perumda Pasar Jaya’s strategic steps in realising The Culinary HUB concept, namely making the market not only a centre for trade transactions. “But also an attractive, innovative culinary destination capable of supporting the development of UMKM and strengthening the local economic ecosystem,” he said.
