JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Perum Jasa Tirta II (PJT II), the national water resources management company, has assured that irrigation water supply for the Jatiluhur Irrigation Area, spanning around 503,000 hectares, remains secure ahead of the dry season in May 2026.

The company has prepared a series of anticipatory measures beginning with an inventory of challenges in several regional work units, ranging from sedimentation and disturbances to the suction system, to potential damage to the dam.

These steps are intended so that repairs or preventive measures can be implemented promptly to safeguard the smooth distribution of irrigation water during the dry season.

Chief Executive Imam Santoso said the company continues to uphold the reliability of the water supply for the Jatiluhur Irrigation Area, which covers about 503,713.80 hectares.

According to him, water availability at the Ir. H. Djuanda Dam is assured to remain sufficient until the end of 2026.

“We will continue intensive hydrological monitoring, measured management of water distribution, and preparation of various anticipatory steps to address potential drought in several service areas,” Imam said in a press statement, Monday (18/5/2026).

The company also optimises water resources facilities and infrastructure, including increasing pump readiness and clearing weeds and rubbish from irrigation channels to ensure smooth water flow.

“This approach is also part of the company’s strategy to keep irrigation services running smoothly while minimising potential water-use conflicts during the dry season through adaptive and responsive water management to the dynamics of field conditions,” added Imam.

Through routine field coordination, the company ensures information related to water distribution schedules, rotation patterns, and flow conditions are well received by farmers.

PJT II emphasises that the sustainability of water supply for the agricultural sector remains the company’s top priority, especially amid the challenges of the 2026 dry season.

“As a water resources management company, drought management is one of the operational priorities we undertake through preventive steps from an early stage,” said Imam.
